Yes.  The transfer option is available to students.

What is the difference between the ACBT Colombo 5 and ACBT Colombo 3 campuses? 

Currently, 442 Galle Road, Colombo 03 is the home of Edith Cowan University Sri Lanka campus.  We offer full Australian degrees from ECU.  We also offer pathway courses to ECU from ACBT/ECC - Diploma and Foundation programs.  These pathway courses are designed to give you a recognised and accredited qualification from Australia and from Sri Lanka.  These pathway courses are also recognised by other universities, especially in Australia.

Colombo 5 runs courses from MDX and related pathway courses.  If you are interested in courses from MDX, please visit their campus on Dickman’s Road, Colombo 5.

Why are we charging penalty & agreement fee?

Penalty Fee 

This fee is charged when a student misses a payment deadline. The current penalty fee is LKR 6,500.00 per unit. 

Agreement Fee 

This fee is applicable only for Foundation and Diploma payments with ACBT & ECC, and it applies when students choose to make the second 50% payment through the extended installment options listed below.

First Option – One Time payment (no Fee) 

Second Option – 2 installments (LKR 1,000.00 per unit) 

Third Option – 3 installments (LKR 2,000.00 per unit)

We currently provide internship opportunities from Stax Asia, Cargills, KPMG and many more. In addition to this, we also provide activities, seminars and forums that will give a direct engagement with the industry experts. 

Computer Science/Cyber Security 

Several companies such as IFS, Virtusa works with ECU SL to offer internships for computer science and cyber security students on a regular basis.

Scope / job opportunities after the degree

Commerce 

Our Commerce graduates are ready to take on the ever-evolving industry with an evidence-based career e-portfolio, and the skills to apply the theoretical concepts studied in a practical and real-world setting. As a strong evidence to our success, we have many graduates in top corporate positions as well. 

Some of the exciting career opportunities include Business Development Manager, International Business Consultant, Management Consultant, Trade Manager, Administration Manager, Operations/Production Manager, Business Analyst, Foreign Affairs, and Trade Officer. Computer Science/ Cyber Security 

IT graduates can grab opportunities in SL as well as other countries. Students with right skills, can stay in SL and remotely work for foreign companies as well. 

Computer science graduates may start their career as Software Engineer/ Developer/ Programmer, QA Engineers, Devops Engineers, Data Analyst, Computer Scientist, Software Architect or AI/ML Engineer. 

Cyber security graduates’ can be Information Security Analyst, Security Architect, Cyber Security Consultant, Forensic Investigator or Penetration Tester.

Design 

A vast range of job opportunities are available as the students cover multiple creative disciplines in their degree program. They can find jobs in following areas. 

Development and design of games, game concepts, game scenarios, e-learning materials, websites, digital media, multimedia systems, digital content development, and digital design project management.

What is the difference between Bachelor of Science (Cyber Security) and Bachelor of Computer Science (Major in Cyber Security)? 

Bachelor of Science (Cyber Security) degree focuses on the practical and theoretical dimensions of cyber security across a range of fundamental areas, such as network security and vulnerability assessment, information security policy and governance, digital forensics, and ethical hacking. In addition, the course is designed to meet the changing landscape of secure computing, which involves computers and Internet of Things (IoT). Students who pursue a career in Cyber Security industry are advised to select said degree. 

Bachelor of Computer Science degree focuses on the practical and theoretical dimensions of computer science and prepares students for careers in the fields of computing and software development. Bachelor of Computer Science major in Cyber Security, focuses on core areas of computer science and practical and theoretical scopes of cyber security as well. Therefore, students get general understanding about both software engineering and cyber security aspects and open to enter into either Software Engineering or Cyber Security industry.

How can I get an Extension for assessments?  

Assessment extensions are not common and are not encouraged, however if there is valid need, please fill the assessment extension request form and send it to local lecturer copying the relevant Program Convenor before the submission deadline. 

The form has to be accompanied with relevant documentary evidence. The submitted request can be approved or rejected, depending on the evidence and/or the provided reasoning

Time sensitive assessments, such as quizzes do not get extensions.

How can I get a hard copy transcript of my results? 

How can I get an academic transcript of my current results?  

You will receive a complimentary digital copy of your Statement of Academic Record (transcript) through My eQuals and an electronic Course Completion letter to your student email, usually within 2-3 working days from the day results are released.

What are the pathways for Nursing registration in Australia?  

There are 2 pathways. 

1st pathway is APHRA pathway  

Diploma in Nursing qualification obtained in Sri Lanka which is eligible for SLNC registration – Y61 Nursing program – APHRA exam in Australia – Australian registration  

2nd pathway is Graduate Entry pathway 

Diploma in Nursing qualification obtained in Sri Lanka – Y61 Nursing program – J46 Masters program - Australian registration

Can we get the Nursing registration in Australia following the degree completion?  Yes. However,  country specific requirements relevant to the registrations has to be fulfilled. University 
Can we take more than two units per semester?  Yes, however, as our students are working, we only offer 2 units per trimester at present. University
Can we attend lectures online?  No, all classes are conducted on campus, except for Nursing.  Nursing can be studied on campus or online. University
Does the Nursing program provide pathways to nursing registration in other countries as well?  Yes. However,  country specific requirements relevant to the registrations has to be fulfilled. University
Do we really have to do IELTS to join the Nursing program? 

Yes, it is required for the Nursing program.

Can I do 5 units in one semester? Full time study is 4 units (or 60 credit points).  If a student wishes to study 5 units in one semester are required to send in a written request, explaining the circumstances. Upon receipt of the request, the academic team will advise the student in relation to the undertaken study load and risk elements. If the student understands and agrees, the student can enrol in 5 units.  University
